The New Mexico BioPark Society
The New Mexico BioPark Society's (NMBPS) purpose and function is to
promote the development of the Albuquerque Biological Park (the
BioPark), to further community interest in the BioPark, and to assist
in raising funds for the continued development and capital improvements
of the BioPark. NMBPS raises funds from donations received from private
foundations, individuals, businesses, fundraising events, state
lobbying efforts, grants and special fundraising campaigns.
NMBPS also administers the membership program for the Albuquerque BioPark. Since 1969 the organization has contributed over $10 million to the Rio Grande Zoo and, since 1993, more than $2 million to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden and Albuquerque Aquarium. The New Mexico BioPark Society is a 501©(3) non-profit organization; donations are tax-deductible in whole or in part. It is not a part of the City of Albuquerque, but a separate legal entity. The Society is a charitable organization governed by its Board of Directors, which is comprised of private citizens.
