5K Timed Run - 9:30 AM Start

5K Timed Race - Wave Start!
Due to its popularity, the 5K Timed Run will utilize a wave start improving your race experience with out affecting your chip time!
There will be (3) waves of approximately 700 runners each. The waves will start at 5-minute intervals and organized according to predicted min/mile pace. It is expected that more runners will be able to run at their pace from the start!
Wave 1: 8:50+ or better
Wave 2: 8:51 - 10:35
Wave 3: 10:36+
Your runners bib will state which wave you have been placed in.
Overall & Masters awards will be determined by gun time. Age group awards will be determined by chip time.

This is a USATF certified 5K course. Individual & Team competition.
This is the only event in which teams may compete.
Split times, provided by Albuquerque Ham Radio Operators at mile markers.

ChronoTrack Timing Device. Your BIB is your Tag!
Run for the Zoo will use the ChronoTrack B-Tag, a single use BIB tag. disposable tag timing system. Each timed event participant's tag is located on the back of the BIB. In order to receive an accurate time, your BIB must be:
- Clearly VIsable on the front of the torso
- Unaltered and Unmodified. Do NOT fold or wrinkle
- Pinned in all four corners
- NOT covered. (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
You MUST have your Race Number pinned to the front of your shirt to participate.

Course Water Stations
- Water stations will be positioned along the race course courtesy of Purified Water to Go.
- Portable toilets located at the start and finish lines, as well as locations along Half, 10K & 5K courses.
- First Aid stations/medical personnel on site.
Awards
Medals will be awarded to male and female overall winners in all age levels and masters (40+) runners. Winners will be awarded the highest level of award for their finish time. No “double dipping.” Lower level awards will go to the next fastest runner in that gender/age division.
Medals will be awarded for first through third place male and female finishers in the following age divisions :
5-7 8-10 11-13 14-16 17-19
| 20-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49
| 50-54 55-59 60-64 65-69 70-74 75+ |
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 Male and Female overall, masters (40+) and age group runners.
