About the New Mexico BioPark Society
The purpose of the New Mexico BioPark Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is to promote the development of the Rio Grande Zoo, Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Aquarium and Tingley Beach, to further community interest in the BioPark and to help raise funds for education programs and the development and capital improvement of the BioPark.
Since 1969, the New Mexico Zoological Society, now the newly formed New Mexico BioPark Society, has contributed over $10 million to the Zoo. The NMBPS has purchased animals; equipment for the veterinary clinic and the education department; art to enhance the Zoo's exhibits; and has partially funded the renovation of many exhibits including the Tropical America, Africa, Cougar Canyon. Koala Creek, and Inukshuk Bay. The NMBPS is currently responsible for funding the BioVan, one of the Zoo's many school outreach programs.
