The Rio Grande Zoo was founded along the banks of the Rio Grande River in 1927. In 1996, it was incorporated into the Albuquerque Biological Park (ABQ BioPark) along with the Albuquerque Aquarium and Rio Grande Botanic Garden. Location and DirectionsThe Rio Grande Zoo is located at 903 Tenth Street SW, which is south of Lead and Coal and north of Bridge Blvd. From I-25 head west on the Lead or Coal exits to Tenth Street, and south on Tenth Street to the Zoo parking lots. If you exit I-25 on Bridge, take Bridge west to Eighth Street. Turn north on Eighth Street and west on Lead or Coal to Tenth Street. Take Tenth Street south to the Zoo. The entrance to the Zoo in on the west side of Tenth Street. Two free parking lots are located on the west side of Tenth Street, adjacant to the zoo's entrance.
