BioScapeWINTER 2011 Feature ArticlesRiver Runs to The Sea
The grassy area of the Botanic Garden will be transformed into a seascape with all new sculptures including a whale, octopus, stingray, sea turtle, two live coral pieces, four neon fish and two queen angel fish. The BioPark is making efforts to reduce the stream of energy required to power the event as part of its ongoing initiatives to conserve resources throughout the facility. As such, the River of Lights crew, which works year-round to design and build new sculpture, in addition to repairing and refurbishing old ones, has begun using more LED lighting in the construction of new pieces and replacing incandescent bulbs in some of the older pieces. This alone can result in energy savings of up to 80 percent. Community of Giving
From beautifying the grounds to providing specialized medical treatment for animals, there is a community of giving in Albuquerque. Here, we recognize just a few who recently have lent a hand for both surgeries and scenery at the BioPark. Extreme Holiday MakeoverShape up your holiday routine! Instead of filling up on gag gifts, let us work out your shopping dilemmas with ideas from the BioPark. Everyone from the art lover to the adventurer will be thrilled, and the only returns you’ll hear about will be happy ones describing the memories made at the BioPark all year long. © 2012 New Mexico BioPark Society • 903 10th Street SW • Albuquerque, NM 87102 • 505.764.6280 Home |
