The Albuquerque BioParkWelcomeThe Albuquerque Biological Park consists of the Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, Rio Grande Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach. The BioPark’s objective is to provide the public with exciting recreational opportunities and to foster environmental awareness, education and stewardship. The Albuquerque Biological Park operates as a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Albuquerque under policy direction set by the Mayor, City Council, the Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Albuquerque Biological Park Advisory Board. municipal government The Albuquerque Biological Park is accredited by the Associations of Zoos & Aquariums(AZA). The Rio Grande Botanic Garden is an institutional member of the American Public Gardens Association. APGA members are committed to excellence in horticultural display, education, research and plant conservation. The New Mexico BioPark Society is a separate legal entity and is not a part of the City of Albuquerque. Established as the Zoological Society in 1969 and changed to the BioPark Society in 2006, the Society’s purpose and function is to promote the development of the BioPark, to further community interest in the BioPark, and to assist in raising funds for the continued development and capital improvements of the BioPark. The Society is a 501( c) (3) non-profit organization governed by its Board of Directors of private citizens. Supporting the NM BioPark Society.The New Mexico BioPark Society provides financial assistance to the Albuquerque BioPark for construction projects, exhibit development, purchase of equipment, animal support and enrichment, education programs, conservation efforts, and other miscellaneous BioPark needs. Donations from individuals, corporations and foundations are crucial to the future of the New Mexico BioPark. You may choose to give through the Annual Appeal or designate your support to a specific animal with the Zoo Parent program. Several giving opportunities are designed as memorials and honoraria. Your gift can be enhanced by taking advantage of a number of ways to support the BioPark through planned giving.
